Lego is a range of plastic construction toys manufactured by The Lego Group, a private company based in Billund, Denmark. As of 2021, Lego was the largest toy company in the world. The company's flagship, Lego, is made up of differently colored, interlocking plastic bricks that accompany a series of gears, figures, called minifigures, and various other parts. Lego parts can be assembled and connected in many ways to construct objects, including vehicles, buildings, and work robots. Anything that has been designed can be taken apart and the parts reused to make new things.
The Lego group began making the interlocking game pieces in 1949. Films, games, competitions and eight Legoland amusement parks have been developed under the brand. By July 2015, 600 billion Lego parts had been produced.
